When I think of Egypt, Pyramids and ancient history come to mind. Perhaps scenes from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom too.
Over 5,000 years ago the Ancient Egyptians were the first civilization to create a calendar with 12 lunar months, 24 hours in a day, and 365 days in a year.
I did visit the Great Pyramids of Giza and they left me in awe. The scale of the tallest pyramid was about 146.5m high. There are a few theories behind the idea of how they were built, and still remains a mystery. It was the tallest man made structure of its kind for over 3,800 years until the Lincoln Cathedral was completed c 1300 at 160m high.
It’s mysterious, grand, and spiritual when you are faced by one of the seven man made wonders of the world. Estimated mass of the Great Pyramid is about 5.9 million tonnes.
The Egyptian Museum has the best preserved and oldest antiquities. Highly recommend visiting in Cairo.
Diving the Red Sea was one of the best diving regions I’ve ever experienced. The visibility, coral reefs, and marine life were astonishing. I joined The Aggressor for 7 days of epic diving with some of the best people I could’ve possible met. Lots of sharks including the Oceanic Shark, and Hammerheads.
I look forward to seeing some of you again one day on another diving adventure together!
